Sharri Markson takes over as the Canberra press gallery herd leader

What an inspired choice by the Sydney Daily Telegraph to make Sharri Markson its chief political writer in Canberra. She has taken to the job with an enthusiastic toughness that has let her break free from the pompous pontificating that has marked the parliamentary press gallery for years.
Markson's coverage this week of the Barnaby Joyce story has restored my faith in the paper I wrote for many, many years ago.
